We have fielded many questions on harvesting and storing snaplage this year, as central MN dairy producers are looking for ways to avoid drying costs of late planted corn. Additional advantages of snaplage include: yields that are 10-15% higher per acre compared to grain harvest (addition of husk and cob to the diet), potential cost savings compared to harvesting corn and processing at the storage structure, and greater ruminal starch availability compared to dry corn.
