Update On Late Emerging Plants

Aug 09, 2019

Plants that emerged late were flagged so they could be kept track of throughout the season. Plants that were flagged vary from being behind a few inches in height , to having a thin stature, to looking very similar to plants with average emergence.

These plants were late emergers:

Plants with average to early emergence are more even in height, similar in development and have similar ear size.
These plants all emerged around the same time:

The ear on the left was a late emerger, while the ear on the right was an early emerger. The smaller ear is still pollinating. The bigger ear has already polinated and is much further ahead.
