Here’s your weekly cover crop update! Every week, we introduce a new cover crop species, offering insights on cultivation and discussing both benefits and potential challenges. This week, we’re spotlighting Red Clover!

Planting Details:

Should be planted between April 15th and September 1st north of interstate 94.

The minimum germination temperature for planting is 41 degrees F.

Planting rate should be 8-12 lbs./acre and planted 1/4 -1/2″ deep.

Seeds/lb.: 270,000 – 275,000
About Red Clover:

Perennial legume cover crop.

Grows well in cool weather and establishes quickly.

Fixes nitrogen in the soil, improving fertility.

Provides forage for livestock.
