On Wednesday, September 18th, Centra Sota held its 2nd Annual Ag Career Field Day, and it was a huge success! The event was held at Centra Sota's agronomy location in Santiago, MN which is also home to the Answer Plot event. This year’s event hosted a remarkable 150 students ranging from grades 9-12. Students had the opportunity to explore the diverse career and education opportunities available in the world of agriculture.
The event provided learning through a rotation of interactive stations designed to show the kids the wide variety of roles agriculture employs. At the colleges station, students met representatives from schools offering agriculture programs, gaining insights into degrees, scholarships, and career paths. The equipment and technology station showcased automation and precision farming tools shaping the industry’s future. At the root pit agronomy station, students explored crop production for corn and soybeans. They also learned about conservation agronomy and its impact on farming. The dairy farming and small animal stations highlighted the animal side of agriculture. Other stations included Ag sales, drones used for agriculture application, and the Ag technology trailer from Ridgewater College.
A special thank you to all the colleges and businesses that participated in the event! We appreciate Ridgewater College, Central Lakes College, URFW, SMSU, SDSU, NDSU, Midwest Machinery, Arnolds, Wright County Soil and Water, Sherburne County Soil & Water, Silverstreak Dairies, and Minnesota Corn for joining us. Additionally, we want to provide a shout out to Centra Sota's Country Stores for helping out with the event!
Students enjoyed lunch and delicious ice cream from What's the Scoop, and many walked away with exciting prizes from our drawing, including gift cards, hats, headphones, blankets, and more!
